Marking its fourth successful year, the Everything Equine Exposition and Trade Show will be held on Saturday, May 10, in Uxbridge’s Elgin Park.
This year, Scotiabank, Wild Wing, H H Goode and Sons, Brooks Feed Store and Kentucky Equine Research have partnered with the Uxbridge Horsemen’s Association to sponsor the event which will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
It promises to be a fun-filled, informative day with approximately 100 horse-related vendors/exhibitors, a product demo tent, and a diverse field of equine experts on hand giving lectures, seminars and demonstrations.
Admission is only $7 (kids 12 and under are free) and provides access to the entire day’s activities.
Clinicians already confirmed include internationally acclaimed equine educator Randy Bird giving both riding and driving demonstrations, and Don Halladay, a Parelli three-star rated Natural Horsemanship Instructor from Alberta, who will be working with the Uxbridge Savvy Club.
The lecture schedule features, among others, Dr. Margaret Turner, representing McKee Pownall Equine Services, and Dr. Bruce Watt from the Caledon Equine Clinic.
From small to large and everything in between, equine exhibitors demonstrating in the main ring throughout the day include the Gaited Horse Group of Ontario, the American Sport Ponies, the Mounted Belgian Brigade and the Ontario Percheron Horse Association, who will be raising awareness of the 13th World Percheron Congress being held for the first time ever in Ontario at the CNE Grounds this summer.
The Cedar Valley Polo Club will be conducting polo challenges in the morning and afternoon, and CARD (Community Association for the Riding Disabled) will demonstrate the therapeutic benefits of riding horses.
You’ll also be able to see local favourites - expert equine trainer Jim Young, animal communicator Lauren Bode, the Turn’n’Burn Western Speed Events Club, and the Ontario Trail Riders’ Association - in action.
Quite appropriately, as May 10 has been proclaimed UNICEF day in the township of Uxbridge, world champion Tent Pegger Akaash Maharaj will put on a display of this fast-paced sport while promoting his sponsor: UNICEF.
In addition to Everything Equine, the Uxbridge Horsemen’s Association organizes clinics, events, and trail rides throughout the year, while monitoring events affecting the equine community such as the horseback riding situation in the Durham Forest.
Their efforts also extend into charitable causes. Recent donations include $2,400 to breast cancer research (raised by the Bike and Beast horse and cyclist partner poker run), $1,400 from the Team Penning Event at last year’s Uxbridge Fall Fair to CARD, and an annual mounted food drive that resulted in the largest ever single day donation to Uxbridge’s Loaves and Fishes Food Bank.
The Uxbridge Horsemen’s Association has been in existence for 30 years, informing and educating its members and the local horse community. Club members include both English and Western riders and enthusiasts, from all disciplines and at all skill levels.
